Founded in 2011, Dan River Electric is a locally-owned, small business headquartered in Danville, Virginia.
Dan River Electric’s general manager, Lawson “L.A.” Motley, Jr., is an electrician and electrical contractor with over 30 years of experience.
L.A. is certified as a Class A electrical contractor by the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. He also holds an unlimited classification from the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors.
L.A’s electrical career began with his family’s business, Motley Electric Corporation. There, he learned the basics of electricity through residential electrical projects, ranging from wiring and installation in new houses and apartments to residential renovations and additions. L.A. expanded his expertise to commercial electrical services by wiring schools, motels, restaurants, and institutional buildings. His industrial electrical experience includes projects at Shorewood Packaging, Dan River Mills, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and DanChem. Today, L.A. continues his lifelong career by leading the team of electricians at Dan River Electric.
